The Dragon Birth eBook Jaimey Grant

The Dragon's Birth isn't really a short story in that it's not a complete story by itself. At the risk of spoiling it, the story reads more like a first chapter and ends on a cliffhanger.

However, I liked the premise and I enjoyed how it was presented. The characters are interesting enough to hold my attention, though I'm not sure I really care for the king's sister. I hope she gets fleshed out more later on.

Overall, I think it's a good set-up for a much longer work. I look forward to checking out the rest of the series.

The Dragon Birth eBook Jaimey Grant Reviews

For a prequel I thought this was fantastic! The story sucked me into a fantasy world and a hidden mystery. The characters brought a lively atmosphere to the story. I feel like I am geared with enough information from this short story to continue onto the novel that will no doubt be a great read!
A very young king, who has spent his life among rumors that his lineage may have descended from Dragons.
His very young friend, whose job is to guard the king.
An overbearing know-it-all sister who still treats him like a baby.
A sneaky voice in his head disclosing secrets to him that no one else would.
Add to it that the voice belongs to an evil dragon who loves to wreak havoc & thinks of human as cattle.
What do you think is going to happen!

Darok, young King of Coraji, and his friend K’ni are sparring one day when Darok flings K’ni’s sword into the underbrush at the edge of the forest. While searching for it Darok finds an ancient key. It calls to him. Soon he and K’ni are discovering something amazing, and frightening, about their past. Something only talked about in stories. Darok is about to find out that wishing for something isn’t always a good thing.

Although the shortness of this story hinders the richness of it there’s enough here to intrigue. What is the history of the dragon? Who is Bental? Who or what are the Tech Order? What will become of Darok? So many questions! I hope Jaimey Grant one day gives us the rest of this fantasy.
